Located in the heart of Auckland's marine precinct between Westhaven Marina and the Viaduct Harbour, General Marine Services (GMS) has been in business since 1994. Local shipyards and boat bulders have been quick to pick up on the expertise the company offers and a large part of our business is in new build projects and refits. The company operates a full service engineering facility and provides an experienced, professional service to visiting private vessels, uper yachts and boat builders.

We provide system design and specification, equipment supply, installation, commissioning and service, as well as a full machining and fabrication facility on site, utilising advanced computer aided equipment.

We have a team of engineers working in the field and from our fully equipped workshops. They provide single source turnkey engineering packages, backed up with world wide warranties and service support from our business partners.

A full range of plumbing and marine parts are available from our trade counter or our permanent on-the-road sales representatives.

In addition to the support we can offer you, our Trade / Retail shop has a wide range (over 10,000 line items) of installation and engineering equipment that enables the end user a professional quality installation and/or repair.

Bluntly, we will not recommend a product we wouldnl't go to sea with ourselves!

SERVICE, FABRICATION & MACHINING

Our three well-equipped engineering departments in heart of the marine precinct between Westhaven and the Viaduct Basin are ideally situated to respond to visiting vessels in or around the Auckland ports and we can travel throughout New Zealand or the Pacific. Our department managers have each had many years in the marine industry and are specialists in their fields. They are always willing to offer sound advice to assist the client in making well-informed decisions.

Some of the services we offer includes:

• Complete installation of onboard equipment and systems; Equipment overhaul and repair; Pump servicing and testing; Watermaker servicing, rebuilding and testing (we have the only specialist watermaker testing facility in New Zealand)
• Diagnostics; Design and specification; Precision machining; Fabrication using all ferrous and nonferrous metals; Pipe bending; Rolling; Folding; Beadblasting in our on site industrial blaster.

SYSTEM DESIGN

General Marine Services' approach to System Design is one of innovation and practicality. We cater for any vessel requirements including full CAD design and specifications of equipment. Our CAD design productions use British and International symbols. Can be provided in bound form or CD format. The areas of consideration are many and they include: Survey requirements, local and International with regard to Lloyds/DNV/ABS; Budget restraints; Performance criteria; Operating conditions and areas; Resale value. GMS understands the considerable capital outlay involved with vessels of all types and sizes. We ralise that throughout design analysis and costing, of any plan, will always be the most valuable and practical approach.

SHORE SUPPORT

To assist visiting yachts and their crew we also provide: Sourcing of spare parts; Berthage; Fuel Bunkering; Vehicle rental; Travel advice; Office services such as faxing, photocopying, email; Mail depot / collection point.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT & VESSEL COMMISSIONING

We are in the ideal situation to oversee the building and maintenance carried out on your project in New Zealand. General Marine Services will provide a comprehensive report on progress along with digital photos and any necessary CAD drawings. We will also co-ordinate and monitor all surveys to the required standards, as set out by the relevant Marinetime Safety Authority. This ensures the vessel is operating within its required Safe Ship Management parameters.
